Shropshire and Telford Community Energy

We are a Community Benefit Society and we own the Twemlows Solar Farm near Whitchurch.

We run it for the benefit of the community by funding two Community Benefit Funds (CBF) covering Shropshire and Telford.

The revenue from electricity sales pays the running costs of our professional asset managers, pays down our loans to a planned schedule, pays a reasonable target return (currently 6%) to our members on their shares and the surpluses fund our Community Benefit Fund.

The community benefits will amount to around £2million over the project lifetime until 2041, when the leases and permissions expire. We have options to renew the leases in 2041.

All our Directors are volunteers.

Our financial model is based on 8 years history of the actual performance (generation and finances) of the Twemlows Solar Farm since 2016 and professional forecasts of performance until 2041.
