Dr Elena Imani
KTP Associate
Dr Elena Imani is a Knowledge Transfer Partnership Associate and Sustainable Project Manager. She is currently leading a collaboration between Lichfield Cathedral, Staffordshire University and the University of Birmingham. She is developing a decarbonisation toolkit to help heritage buildings overcome the technical, regulatory and operational challenges of transitioning to net zero.
Elena has a multidisciplinary background in architecture, applied mathematics, building science and energy, she specialises in sustainable retrofit and low-carbon technologies, building energy and performance modelling, BIM and data analysis. She holds a PhD in Energy and the Built Environment and is passionate about translating research into practical solutions that strengthen the sustainability and resilience of historic buildings.

Net Zero Meets Heritage: Decarbonising Historic Buildings
This workshop explores how Lichfield Cathedral is combining digital-twin technology, energy analysis and low-carbon solutions to progress towards net zero while protecting its historic character. It will share practical insights for decarbonising similar heritage buildings and engaging communities in climate action. Location: Workshop Area 1
