Keynote Speaker Announcement – Mary Portas

We’re delighted to announce that Mary Portas will headline this year’s Midlands Climate Expo, taking place on Friday 19 September at the Alton Towers Conference Centre.
Known for her work transforming the UK high street, Mary has become one of the country’s leading voices on values-driven business. Her keynote interview, The Business of Change, will explore why purpose must be at the heart of the future economy, and how business can be a powerful driver of climate action.
As co-chair of the Better Business Act, Mary has championed the need for legislative reform to ensure companies align their goals with people and the planet. Speaking at this year’s Better Business Day, she said:
“The world is on a knife edge socially, culturally, environmentally. People are not just asking more from business, they are demanding it. But we are still shackled to outdated rules built for a world that no longer exists. This is not just an economic crisis, it is a systemic one. Businesses need to decide – be part of the solution or be left behind.”
Her appearance marks the headline moment for this year’s Expo, which brings together over 500 professionals from business, local government, academia and industry to explore leadership, innovation and impact in a climate-challenged world.
Details of all the day’s panels and speakers will be announced shortly. Delegate tickets are free and available now. Register at climateexpo.org.uk
For those travelling by train, a free electric shuttle will run from Uttoxeter Station to the venue, thanks to support from Roberts Travel Group.
